Tennis/Roland-Garros: Discovery extends its European TV rights (excluding France) for 2022-2026

Discovery has extended its TV rights to Roland-Garros for the next five editions (2022-2026) in more than 50 European territories (excluding France, see below), according to the American media group on 11/06/2021.

"In 2021, Roland-Garros is available to watch in Denmark, Finland, Italy, Norway and Sweden on streaming platform discovery+ for the first time as Discovery looks to further expand the sport’s reach. Earlier this week, Eurosport reported significant year-on-year growth of its audience on its digital platforms across Europe (through the first eight days) with double-digit increases in a large number of countries, including Poland (+122%), Spain (+58%), Russia (+35%), the UK (+24%), Italy (+23%) and the Netherlands (+12%)," explained the parent company of the Eurosport channels.

The French Tennis Federation (FFT) had launched a call for tenders for the commercialisation of the audiovisual rights to Roland-Garros in these 50 European territories on 13/04/2021.
