In the 43^rd minute of the Group B match played at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen (DEN), Christian Eriksen, born on 14/02/1992, suddenly collapsed on the pitch after suffering a cardiac arrest. The 2020-21 Italian champion with FC Inter Milan (Serie A TIM) quickly underwent CPR for more than 10 minutes before being evacuated and hospitalised at the nearby Rigshospitalet.

UEFA proposed that both teams finish the match - as is the protocol in such cases - either that evening or at noon the following day (Sunday). After receiving reassuring news from their teammate, Denmark agreed to resume the match, which Finland eventually won (0-1).
