Liga BBVA: Nuno succeeds Juan Antonio Pizzi as manager of Valencia CF

Nuno Espírito Santo (POR) was appointed the new manager of Valencia CF (Liga) through 30/06/2015, with an option for an additional season, the club announced on 03/07/2014. He will replace Juan Antonio Pizzi, sacked by the administrative council on 02/07/2014.

Nuno, 40, is a former goalkeeper and had managed Rio Ave FC (POR) since July 2012.

The Singaporean businessman Peter Lim acquired all of the shares of Valencia CF held by the Valencia CF Foundation (70.4% of the capital) for an estimated €400m on 15/05/2014. Lim must still reach an agreement with Bankia, Valencia's main creditor, to pay off the club's debt, which is estimated at €200m.

Valencia CF finished the 2013-14 season of Liga BBVA ranked 8th with 49 points.
