Italy: DAZN acquires non-exclusive streaming rights to the Serie BKT (2021-2024)

The OTT platform DAZN has acquired the non-exclusive streaming rights to the Serie BKT in Italy for the 2021-2024 cycle, according to the Lega Serie B on 16/06/2021.

The pay-TV operator Sky Italia had acquired the non-exclusive rights (all media) to the Serie BKT over the same period on 27/04/2021. Helbiz, an Italian-American micro-mobility company (electric scooter rentals), acquired the streaming rights for Italy as well as the international media rights to the Italian second division on 09/06/2021.

"If we add the subscriptions to the guaranteed minimum for the marketing of international rights, we arrive at a turnover of €48.5m (per year), which effectively doubles the amount obtained in the last three years by the Lega Serie B for the sale of audiovisual rights. A figure that could increase further with packages reserved for free-to-air rights," said the Italian League.

DAZN held the national broadcasting rights to all Serie BKT matches over the 2018-2021 cycle for an estimated €22m per season. The public broadcasting group RAI also broadcast one game per matchday over the cycle.
