FC Girondins de Bordeaux takeover: "No new firm and financed takeover offer has been transmitted"

"While the club has taken note of the statements made by various candidates in the press, it would nevertheless like to point out that no new firm and financed takeover offer has been transmitted by these candidates for the time being," said FC Girondins de Bordeaux (Ligue 1 Uber Eats) on 17/06/2021.

The Bordeaux club, which has been under the protection of the Commercial Court since April 2021, identified four potential buyers on 02/06/2021. Three of them - Gérard Lopez, Pascal Rigo and Didier Quillot - submitted an offer to Rothschild & Co, the club's advisory bank, on 14/06/2021. "None of the potential buyers, however, offered sufficient guarantees of their financial capacity, an essential criterion for meeting the club's operational needs and satisfying the requirements set by the DNCG," explained the FC Girondins de Bordeaux, which accordingly granted the candidates a new deadline, set at 14:00 on 17/06/2021, to submit an "improved" offer.
