Juventus FC: death of Giampiero Boniperti (92), ex-international and honorary president of the club

"Today we bid farewell to Giampiero Boniperti, who passed away in Turin at the age of 92. He would have been 93 in a few days, on 04/07/2021. This is the news we never wanted to give you. Addio, Presidentissimo!" announced Juventus FC (Serie A TIM) on 18/06/2021.

In the Juventus shirt, this striker turned playmaker won five Italian league titles between 1950 and 1961 and two Italian Cups, before becoming president of the Turin club from 1971 to 1990, then CEO from 1991 to 1994, and honorary president since 2006.

Giampiero Boniperti made 38 appearances for the Italian national team and scored eight goals between 1948 and 1960. "The death of Boniperti brings us great sadness. An extraordinary footballer, an impeccable manager, one of the most representative figures of Italian football has left us. His skill, style and determination taught us a lot and we will never forget him," said FIGC president Gabriele Gravina on 18/06/2021.

His funeral will take place privately, according to his family's wishes.
