Spain: a record total revenue of €5.045bn for the 42 LaLiga clubs in 2019-20

The total revenue of the 42 LaLiga clubs (20 in LaLiga Santander and 22 in LaLiga SmartBank) reached a record €5.045bn in 2019-20, +3.6% compared to 2018-19, according to the Spanish professional league on 21/06/2021.

This total could have been €276m higher and would therefore have been €5.321bn (+9.3%) if not for the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to estimates by the auditing firm PwC.

"The average cumulative long-term growth in each of the last five seasons was +12%, a figure that is worth even more when compared to other sectors and companies: IBEX35 (the main stock market index of the Bolsa de Madrid stock exchange) companies, for example, decreased by -1.4% on average in the last five years," said LaLiga.

"Of note is the greater contribution from LaLiga SmartBank to the whole, at 9.3% of total income, a historical maximum and a sign of an ever more balanced competition; broadcasting rights income stood at 35% of the total," added the Spanish league.
