Brian Sullivan (USA) was re-appointed CEO of German pay-TV group Sky Deutschland on 01/07/2014 for a term lasting through the end of 2016. The extension of his contract, which would have ended in December 2014, was requested by James Murdoch, the chairman of Sky Deutschland, a German subsidiary 57%-owned by the media group 21st Century Fox.

Sullivan, 52, has been the CEO of Sky Deutschland since April 2010. From 2006 to 2009 he was the managing director of the customer group of British pay-TV media outlet BSkyB.

Under his leadership, Sky Deutschland achieved a turnover of €1.546bn in 2013, a 16% increase over 2012 (€1.333bn). The German group had 3,667,000 subscribers at the end of the 2013 fiscal year.

Sky Deutschland possesses in particular the German broadcasting rights for Bundesliga, 2.Bundesliga, the German Cup, the Champions League and the Europa League.

  • The pay-TV group BSkyB confirmed on 12/05/2014 that it had entered into preliminary negotiations with its parent company, 21st Century Fox, to buy the German and Italian pay-TV outfits Sky Deutschland and Sky Italia.
