Manchester City FC: club to provide defibrillators for grassroots football clubs in Manchester (ENG)

Manchester City FC (Premier League), and City in the Community (the club's charity), have come together to fund the purchase of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) that will be distributed "to grassroots football clubs in East Manchester," announced the 2020-21 English champions on 24/06/2021.

This initiative comes after Danish international player Christian Eriksen collapsed during a Euro 2020 match on 12/06/2021 (see below).

According to the club, 26 AEDs are to be donated to clubs near to the Etihad Stadium (55,000 capacity) in the "Ancoats and Beswick, Ardwick, Clayton and Openshaw, Gorton and Abbey Hey and Longsight" areas, who do not have the devices available for training sessions or matchdays.

The AEDs will be distributed by the Manchester Football Association, responsible for the governance and development of football in Greater Manchester, which will also provide training on how to use them for each club that receives one.
