England: Carabao (energy drinks) extends as title sponsor of the EFL Cup (2022-2024)

Carabao, a Thai energy drinks brand, has extended as title sponsor of the EFL Cup and official partner of the English Football League for a further two seasons (2022-2024), announced the body on 24/06/2021. The competition will therefore retain the name "Carabao Cup" until the end of 2023-24.

Carabao became the title sponsor of the competition for three seasons (2017-2020) on 04/11/2016. The Thai drinks brand will continue to pay the EFL an estimated £6m (€6.7m as of 07/11/2016) per year, according to UK media reports. As a result, the EFL will have received a total of £42m (€49m) over the seven-season partnership with Carabao.

Carabao succeeded Capital One (bank), which was the title sponsor of the EFL Cup over the 2012-2016 period (£5.5m/€7.1m as of 01/06/2016, per season). Carling (beer) was previously the title sponsor of the competition for the 2003-2012 cycle.
