Borussia Dortmund: free public transport on matchdays extended to the whole NRW region

The use of public transport to get to a Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) home match at the Signal Iduna Park (81,365 capacity) will now be free of charge from any city in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (GER), announced the club on 21/06/2021.

For more than 30 years, public transport has been included with a match ticket, but in a more restricted geographical area comprising only Dortmund and its suburbs (VRR public transport area).

This initiative, which is the result of an agreement between Borussia Dortmund and DSW21 (the public transport network of the city of Dortmund and its neighbouring areas), will make it possible to offer a "sustainable service" that "contributes to CO2 reduction" from the 2021-22 season.
