American kit supplier Nike confirmed on 08/07/2014 that it will not equip Manchester United (Premier League) after the 2014-15 season.

"Any partnership with a club or federation has to be mutually beneficial and the terms that were on offer for a renewed contract did not represent good value for Nike's shareholders," said the American group. Nike has been the kit supplier for the Reds Devils since 2002, replacing Umbro (UK). Nike will pay the club €31.5m in 2014-15.

The British newspaper The Guardian has reported that Adidas (Germany) will replace Nike for a record €75m per year for a period of 10 years. Currently, the world's largest kit supplier contract links Real Madrid (Liga BBVA) with Adidas for €38m through 2019-20.

Nike also ended its partnership with Arsenal after the 2013-14 season. Puma is linked to the Londoners for an estimated €35.5m per season for 2014-2019.
