The BNP Paribas Open, a WTA 1000 and ATP Masters 1000 tournament held in Indian Wells (California, United States), will be held in 2021, from 10 to 17/10/2021, after the initial dates were postponed in March due to Covid-19, according to the ATP and WTA, the two bodies in charge of world tennis, on 01/07/2021.

"The China Open (Beijing) and Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships (Tokyo), both ATP 500 events scheduled in Week 40, have confirmed their cancellation in 2021 due to restrictions related to Covid-19," added the two bodies.

The WTA unveiled its provisional calendar for the 2021 season on 05/01/2021, from the Abu Dhabi (UAE) tournament (starting on the same day) to 11/07/2021 (the day of the final of Wimbledon).

"Due to the impact of Covid-19, the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells (California, USA) will not be held in its customary dates in March (2021)," said the ATP, which unveiled the rest of the 2021 calendar (post-Australian Open) on 29/12/2020.
