Northern Ireland: Conrad Kirkwood elected president of the Irish Football Association (IFA)

Conrad Kirkwood, born in November 1967, has been elected president of the Irish Football Association (IFA) during a meeting of the IFA Council at the National Football Stadium in Windsor Park, Belfast (Northern Ireland) on 30/06/2021.

Kirkwood won by 23 votes to 20 over Jack Grundie and succeeds David Martin, who has been president of the body since 2016.

Conrad Kirkwood spent 22 years as secretary of his home town club Abbey Villa. He also served for nine years on the board of the Association and for five years as vice-chairman and then as chairman of the Stadium Development Company, part of the IFA.

"I am honored to be elected. The IFA has dedicated and experienced staff who support hard-working volunteers from a wide range of football backgrounds to improve the game here for everyone. I am under no illusions that there will be challenges ahead, but I am looking forward to supporting the association to deliver on its new strategy for football which will be published soon," said Kirkwood.
