DNCG: FC Girondins de Bordeaux and Angers SCO relegated, files to be re-examined on 12/07/2021

"Relegation to the Ligue 2 BKT championship due to the withdrawal of the club's majority shareholder," was the decision taken by the DNCG concerning FC Girondins de Bordeaux (Ligue 1 Uber Eats) on 02/07/2021.

This demotion sanctions the withdrawal of the American investment fund King Street, which did not respect its commitment to balance the accounts by 30/06/2021 by injecting €28m into the club.

"It's true that we are taking over a club that is in a rather complicated state. We spent a lot of time on the work to be done to bring everything back to normal. We presented the main lines of the project. The structure, the rebuilding of the club, both financially and from a sporting point of view. It was more of a strategic meeting that precedes a meeting that will be technical, detailed, on 12/07/2021," said Gerard Lopez, buyer of the club and former owner of LOSC Lille (Ligue 1 Uber Eats).
