30.7 million people in France watched the first week of the Tour de France 2021 (from 26/06 to 04/07/2021) on the public TV channels France 2 and France 3, according to France Télévisions via Twitter on 05/07/2021. In 2020 the first week (from 29/08 to 06/09/2020) drew 30.2 million viewers, 8 million more than the first week in 2019 (the last Tour held in July).

During the first nine days of the race, there was an average of 3.7 million viewers (audience share: 38.3%) on France 2, "the best first week in 15 years" and 2.2 million viewers (audience share: 20.1%) on France 3, "the best first week since 2016," added France Télévisions.
