LaLiga Santander: +14.1 million fans for FC Barcelona on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram in 2020-21

The 20 clubs in the 2020-21 LaLiga Santander have 546 million fans on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/07/2021. This total makes the Spanish first division the second most popular European Top 5 league on the three social networks combined, behind the Premier League, with an average of more than 27 million fans per club.

Real Madrid CF are the most popular Spanish club with over 249 million fans. The club gained 13.6 million additional followers during the 2020-21 season (01/08/2020 to 01/07/2021), 10.3 million of which were on Instagram alone. Among the clubs belonging to one of the European Top 5, only FC Barcelona performed better over the period.

The Catalan club, the second most popular club in the Spanish league with over 239 million followers, posted the biggest increase in absolute terms with 14.1 million additional followers over the period, including 9.6 million on Instagram alone.
