DNCG: individual financial accounts of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs for the 2019-20 season

Revenues excluding transfers generated by the 20 Ligue 1 clubs amounted to €1.583bn for the 2019-20 financial year, down 17% compared to the 2018-19 season (€1.902bn), according to the DNCG report published by the LFP on 07/07/2021, which presents the individual accounts of the 40 professional French clubs (20 in Ligue 1 and 20 in Ligue 2) following a season that ended prematurely due to the to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The cumulative net results of the 20 top flight clubs show a total loss of €269.7m (-€126.4m in 2018-19). While all of these clubs, without exception, posted a negative operating result excluding transfers, ten of them nevertheless managed to post a profit at the end of the financial year, thanks in part to income from transfers, which stood at just over €600m.

TV rights, which totalled €690m, remain the main source of revenue for Ligue 1 clubs despite a 23% decrease (€900m in 2018-19), which can be explained mainly by the non-payment of the last instalments by broadcasters Canal+ and BeIN Sports, as a consequence of the definitive end of the championship after only 28…
