Euro 2020: a record peak audience of 27.6 million viewers for England - Denmark on ITV

England - Denmark (2-1, after extra time), semi-final of Euro 2020 played at Wembley (London) in front of 64,950 spectators, posted a peak audience of 27.6 million viewers on the British TV channels ITV, ITV Hub (streaming service) and STV (Scottish equivalent of ITV), on 07/07/2021 (kick-off at 20:00 BST, 21:00 CET), "making it the most-watched football match ever shown on one (British) channel and the biggest peak for any genre since the 2012 Olympics (in London)," said the British free and private TV channel ITV on 08/07/2021.

The peak TV audience was 26.3 million viewers with an audience share of 89.3%. The match also posted an average audience of 23.9 million viewers. Audience share: 82.3%.

ITV claims to have the three highest peak audiences in UK history for football matches, with this match ahead of the 2018 World Cup semi-final Croatia - England (2-1, after extra time), which posted a peak audience of 27.5 million viewers and the 1998 World Cup Round of 16 match, Argentina - England (2-2, 4-3 on penalties), which posted a peak audience of 26 million.
