US Salernitana 1919 are officially back in the Serie A TIM after a 23-year absence, announced the Italian club on 07/07/2021.

US Salernitana, third in the 2020-21 Serie BKT table and winners of the Serie A promotion play-offs at the end of May 2021, had been waiting for several weeks for the official announcement of their return to the top flight, which had been put on hold due to a particular shareholding situation.

The club from Salerno (Campania, ITA) is 50% owned by Enrico Lotito (via Omnia Service Srl), son of Claudio Lotito, and 50% by the Mezzaroma family (via Morgenstern Srl), owned by the latter's wife. Claudio Lotito is already the owner of SS Lazio (Serie A TIM), of which Omnia Service is a "related party", as evidenced by the Roman club's financial statements. As the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) regulations prohibit the same person from controlling - even indirectly - two Serie A clubs (see below), the transfer of Salernitana to new owners was a necessary precondition for the club's effective promotion to the top flight.
