Italy: FIGC publishes anti-Covid protocol document for professional football in 2021-22

The planning, organisation and management of the 2021-22 season in terms of training, pre-match activities and matches played in Italy in the presence of spectators are set out in the reference document (available to download) published by the FIGC "for the containment of the Covid-19 epidemiological emergency" on 08/07/2021.

This anti-Covid protocol concerns Italian men's professional football, the women's Serie A, the Primavera 1 and 2 competitions (reserved for players under 19 years of age) and referees.

"The preventive measures and organisational indications in the document may be applied flexibly depending on the category concerned, without prejudice to the medical requirements and hygiene provisions that are binding in their content," said the Italian Football Federation.

Four distinct groups

Group 1

• Consists of all those who are necessarily in close contact: players, coaches, masseurs, trainers, shop staff, etc.

Group 2

• The referees and all those who work with them: assistant referees, fourth official, video assistant, match delegate, etc.
