Euro 2020: The FA denounces online abuse of national team players after loss in the final at Wembley

The Football Association has released a statement denouncing the online racist abuse of England national team players following their Euro 2020 loss to Italy (1-1, 3-2 on penalties, Sunday 11/07/2021), on 12/07/2021.

"We strongly condemn all forms of discrimination and are appalled by the online racism that has been aimed at some of our England players on social media. We could not be clearer that anyone behind such disgusting behaviour is not welcome in following the team. We will do all we can to support the players affected while urging the toughest punishments possible for anyone responsible," reads the statement.

The online abuse was mainly target at England players Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho (Manchester United FC) and Bukayo Saka (Arsenal FC), who each missed their penalty kicks.
