FC Girondins de Bordeaux: club to remain in Ligue 1 Uber Eats thanks to DNCG appeal committee

"Following the presentation of the takeover project carried by Jogo Bonito (Gérard Lopez's company), the DNCG's appeal committee has this evening overturned the decision of the control committee for professional clubs of 02/07/2021. FC Girondins de Bordeaux will therefore play the 2021-22 season in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats," announced the French club on 12/07/2021.

In the first instance, the financial regulator had in fact ordered that Girondins de Bordeaux be relegated "to the Ligue 2 BKT championship due to the withdrawal of the club's majority shareholder (the American investment firm King Street)."

"A measure to control the wage bill as well as a ban on recruitment for consideration beyond the transfer of players that will be carried out has nevertheless been ordered," added the Bordeaux club. The club will officially come under the control of the Spanish-Luxembourg businessman Gérard Lopez, former president of LOSC Lille (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), near to 21/07/2021, i.e. the day after the decision of the commercial court to which the project will be presented on 16/07/2021.
