Bundesliga/2.Bundesliga: the return of away fans (5%) from Matchday 3

German professional clubs in the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga plan to allow away fans back into stadiums from Matchday 3 of 2021-22, according to a decision passed by the DFL's general assembly on 14/07/2021.

As long as there are limitations on stadium capacities, 5% of the seats will be reserved for the opposing team's supporters. "Once restrictions are lifted completely, there will be an automatic return to the intended contingent of 10%," explained the German professional football league.

The measure will only come into force on Matchday 3 of the 2021-22 season (27-29/08/2021 for the Bundesliga and 13-15/08/2021 for the 2.Bundesliga) in order to allow each club to bring their own fans back to their stadiums for their first home game (Matchday 1 or 2).

The 2021-22 Bundesliga season begins on Friday 13/08/2021 when FC Bayern Munich, the 2020-21 champions, travel to Borussia Mönchengladbach (kick-off 20:30 CET).
