Serie A TIM/2021-22 calendar: champions Inter Milan face Genoa CFC on Matchday 1 (22/08/2021)

FC Inter Milan, the 2020-21 Italian champions, will face Genoa CFC at home on the weekend of 22 and 23/08/2021, Matchday 1 of the 2021-22 Serie A TIM season, the calendar of which was published by the Lega Serie A on Wednesday 14/07/2021 (document available to download).

The end of the first half of the season (Matchday 19) is scheduled for 22/12/2021, with the beginning of the second half on 06/01/2022 (Matchday 20). Matchday 38 the final matchday of the season will take place on 22/05/2022.

13 of the 20 clubs competing in the new season have already won the Serie A at least once:
• Juventus FC: 36 titles
• FC Inter Milan: 19
• AC Milan: 18
• Genoa CFC: 9
• Bologna FC 1909 and Torino FC: 7 titles each
• AS Roma: 3
• ACF Fiorentina, SS Lazio and SSC Napoli: 2 titles each
• Cagliari Calcio, Hellas Verona FC and UC Sampdoria: 1
These clubs account for 108 of the 117 Italian championship titles awarded since the inaugural 1929-30 season.

The 2021-22 season will also be the 90^th to be played under the current format of home-and-away matches between all teams.
