Tour de France: a record 42.4 million viewers in France for the 2021 edition on France Télévisions

"42.4 million French people saw at least one minute of the Tour de France 2021 on our channels, an all-time record in terms of audience reach (39.6 million for the 2020 Tour)," announced the French public broadcasting group France Télévisions on 19/07/2021. In the 15-24 age group, coverage has increased by 23% in one year, according to the group.

"The afternoons on France 2: 3.8 million viewers on average and a 39.4% audience share (+340,000 viewers compared to 2020 and +130,000 compared to 2019). This is the best audience for a Tour de France since 2017 and the best audience share since 2011. L’étape reine (the queen stage) on 14/07/2021 between Muret and Saint-Lary-Soulan was watched by 5.9 million viewers on France 2, the best audience for a stage of the Tour since 2013. A peak of 7.9 million was reached at the finish," said France Télévisions.

"The afternoons on France 3: an average of 2.4 million viewers and an audience share of 21.6%. In the 15-24 age group: 18% audience share, a record for at least 15 years," added the public broadcasting group.
