IOC: after Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028, the Olympic Games in Brisbane (Queensland, AUS) in 2032

With 72 votes in favour and 5 against out of 77 valid votes cast in a secret ballot, the Australian city of Brisbane (2.3 million inhabitants, capital of Queensland, the state in the north-east of Australia, see map below), the only candidate in the running, was awarded the hosting of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games during the 138^th IOC Session in Tokyo (JPN), on 21/07/2021.

Following the concurrent allocation of the 2024 Games to Paris (FRA) and the 2028 edition to Los Angeles (USA) in Lima (PER) on 13/09/2017, "Brisbane 2032 is the first future host to have been elected under, and to have fully benefited from, the new flexible approach to electing Olympic hosts," explained the International Olympic Committee.

This is the third time Australia will host the Summer Games, after Melbourne in 1956 and Sydney in 2000.
