Premier League: iQiyi acquires streaming rights in China (2021-2025)

IQiyi Sports has acquired the exclusive streaming rights in China for the Premier League for the 2021-2025 cycle (four seasons), 22/07/2021.

IQiyi Sports is a joint venture between the streaming platform IQiyi (a subsidiary of Chinese search engine Baidu) and Super Sports Media (a subsidiary of Chinese culture, sports and entertainment investment company Wuhan DDMC Culture Co) launched on 06/08/2018.

Linear broadcasting rights for the 2021-2025 cycle have not yet been awarded in China. Chinese internet services group Tencent held the exclusive rights to the Premier League for the 2020-21 season for an estimated $10m (€8.5m), after the English League broke its contract with the platform PPTV due to non-payment (see below).

• IQiyi Sports broadcasts, among other things, UEFA Union of European Football Associations zone qualifying matches over the 2018-2022 cycle as well as all LaLiga Santander Spanish first division (20 clubs); naming rights contract to the bank Santander since 2016. matches since the 2019-20 season.
