70,000 Argentine tourists are expected in Rio de Janeiro for the final of the 2014 World Cup between Germany and Argentina on 13/07/2014 at the Maracanã Stadium, the Brazilian government said on 10/07/2014. They are expected to inject an estimated $100m (approximately €73.5m) into the local economy.

All of the hotels in the tourist zones in Rio are full as well as 90% of those in other areas. "The goal is to be champions as hosts as we can no longer be champions at football," said Claudio Magnavita, the secretary of state for tourism.

26,000 security personnel will be deployed in Rio during the final, announced José Eduardo Cardozo, the Brazilian minister of justice, on 10/07/2014. More than 1,500 private security agents will be present in the stadium. About 100,000 public safety officers and 50,000 members from the Brazilian armed forces have been deployed during the World Cup. The total cost of security investments was 1.9bn reais (approximately €629m).
