Girondins de Bordeaux: Commercial Court validates purchase of club by Gérard Lopez's holding company

The Commercial Court of Bordeaux has validated the purchase of FC Girondins de Bordeaux (Ligue 1 Uber Eats) by the holding company Jogo Bonito, owned by the Spanish-Luxembourg businessman Gérard Lopez, on 23/07/2021.

"Following long discussions in recent days, an agreement was finally found between King Street (American investment firm, owner of the club), Fortress (American investment firm, main creditor of the club) and Gérard Lopez (candidate for the takeover) validating the project led by the latter," announced the club on 22/06/2021.

Gérard Lopez's takeover was conditional on the decision of the DNCG, whose appeal committee confirmed that the Bordeaux club would remain in Ligue 1 on 12/07/2021. Lopez provided sufficient financial guarantees to enable the validation of the takeover project and ensure that the club will be able to meet its expenses in 2021-22 (see below).
