Brazil/CBF: Rio Court of Justice overturns election of Rogério Caboclo on 17/04/2018 as president

On 26/07/2021 the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro declared the nullification of the CBF general assembly that changed the voting system for the presidency of the Brazilian Football Federation. This decision leads to the cancellation of the election of Rogério Caboclo as president on 17/04/2018 for the 2019-2023 period, according to Brazilian media on 27/07/2021.

The eight vice-presidents elected on the same day have also been removed from office.

The judge ruled that Rodolfo Landim, president of Flamengo, and Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, president of the São Paulo Football Federation, should take over the CBF's leadership on an interim basis for a period of 30 days, starting as soon as they had accepted the position. They will be responsible for organising and convening new elections, but will not be able to stand for election themselves.
