esports: Fosun Sports (CHN) forges a partnership between its two teams, Wolves and Evil Geniuses

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC (Premier League), will become a partner of the American club Evil Geniuses from 2021, according to the two entities on 28/07/2021. "Evil Geniuses will be the first esports team with a physical presence in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific," said the esports team.

The agreement "will see both teams increase their reach into new geographic markets and expand their expertise in player performance," said the Premier League club. The Wolves logo will now be displayed on Evil Geniuses team uniforms.

The partnership follows Chinese conglomerate Fosun Sports Group's decision to invest in the Seattle (Washington State, USA) based esports organisation, valuing the team at $255m after investment (€215.9m). Fosun Sports Group has owned Wolverhampton Wanderers FC since 2016 (acquired for £45m/€53.9m as of 21/07/2016).

"Wolves' Chinese team will help power Evil Geniuses expansion into the Asian market, where the popularity of esports has exploded in recent years, with a market size of approximately RMB150bn (€19.5bn) in 2021," explained the two entities.
