Tokyo 2020: activation plan of Samsung (electronics), TOP partner of the Olympic & Paralympic Games

"As part of this programme developed for athletes by the IOC and Samsung, limited Olympic Edition Galaxy phones are distributed to all competing athletes, helping them enhance their Games-time experience, while enabling them to stay connected with family and friends, and capture and share their journeys," said the IOC on 21/07/2021.

Samsung extended as a Top Partner of the IOC until 2028 on 04/12/2018. The South Korean electronics group has been a partner of the body since the Nagano (JPN) Olympic Winter Games in 1998, under an agreement that was originally due to end in 2020, and has since been extended for eight years, or two Olympiads.

The South Korean company also launched the "Samsung Galaxy Tokyo 2020 Media Center", a virtual place dedicated to the Games, which "will become the main destination for all of Samsung's Olympic and Paralympic Games content, where fans and media can learn more about the athletes who are part of Team Galaxy (see below), read real-time news, watch Team Galaxy activations, and download behind-the-scenes content," added the body.
