PlayStation, a video game console belonging to Japan's Sony Interactive Entertainment (Sony Corporation Group), has extended its partnership with the UEFA Champions League for an additional three seasons (2021-2024), announced UEFA on 30/07/2021. The rights also cover the UEFA Super Cup, Youth League and Futsal Champions League over the same cycle.

The video game console, launched by Sony in 1994, has been a partner of the Champions League since 1997-98. Sony's annual payment to UEFA over the 2018-2021 period is reported to be between €30m and €50m, according to industry figures.

"As part of the extended agreement, PlayStation will present the Official Player of the Match award at each UEFA Champions League encounter and the Player of the Week across UEFA's digital channels. Furthermore, PlayStation will continue to support the UEFA Champions League Gaming Hub with the enhanced UCL Fantasy and Predictor games, which are available across both mobile and desktop applications," explained the European body.
