LaLiga: long-term agreement with investment firm CVC who will acquire a 10% stake for €2.7bn

"LaLiga confirms a strategic agreement with international investment firm CVC (CVC Capital Partners, based in Luxembourg) to inject €2.7bn into the competition and the clubs. The transaction will be executed through the creation of a new company to which LaLiga will contribute all of its businesses, subsidiaries and joint ventures and in which CVC will hold a minority stake of approximately 10% of the capital. In addition, CVC will provide LaLiga with funds through a joint venture, a long-term arrangement that aligns the interests of LaLiga, the clubs and CVC. LaLiga will maintain its sporting and organisational competences and the management of the commercialisation of audiovisual rights through this new company," announced the Spanish league on 04/08/2021.

The agreement covers several decades and is still subject to approval by LaLiga Santander and LaLiga Smartbank, according to the New York Times.
