Borussia Dortmund: revenues of €358.6m (-26%) and a net deficit of €72.8m in 2020-21

Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) posted revenues (including transfers) of €358.6m during the 2020-21 financial year (01/07/2020 to 30/06/2021), down 26% on 2019-20 (€486.9m), the club announced on 09/08/2021.

The German club posted a net loss of €72.8m, compared to a deficit of €43.9m at the end of the 2019-20 financial year. "The further decline in turnover compared to the previous year was almost completely compensated for by savings in operating expenses. The higher net loss for the year is mainly attributable to the reduced transfer revenues due to the subdued transfer market as well as to special write-offs of assets held for sale," explained Borussia Dortmund.

The German club posted non-transfer revenues of €334.2m (versus €370.2m on 30/06/2020), with the decline mainly due to the lack of ticket sales due to the Covid-19 pandemic (see below).
