Tennis/ATP: Shanghai Masters 1000 cancelled, BNP Paribas Open extended from 07 to 17/10/2021

The Rolex Shanghai Masters, an ATP Masters 1000 tournament held in Shanghai (CHN), will not appear on the 2021 calendar due to Covid-19, according to the ATP on 09/08/2021. The cancellation of the Chinese ATP tournaments in Chengdu and Zhuhai is also confirmed in the latest version of the 2021 calendar unveiled by the body, which will end in Turin (ITA) with the ATP Finals from 14 to 21/11/2021.

The duration of the BNP Paribas Open, a WTA 1000 and ATP Masters 1000 tournament held in Indian Wells (California, USA), has also been extended from 8 to 11 days, from 07 to 17/08/2021. The Californian tournament will be on the 2021 calendar, from 10 to 17/10/2021, after the initial dates were postponed in March due to Covid-19, according to the ATP and WTA, the two bodies in charge of world tennis, on 01/07/2021.
