Germany/DFL: Donata Hopfen to succeed Christian Seifert as CEO from 01/01/2022

"Donata Hopfen will become chairwoman of the board of directors of the DFL on 01/01/2022. Born in 1976 (in Hamburg), she is currently managing director and partner at BCG Digital Ventures, a Boston Consulting Group company. In accordance with the DFL by-laws she will also assume the function of speaker of the executive committee of DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga e.V. as successor to Christian Seifert. The contract is initially for a period to 31/12/2024," announced the DFL on 14/08/2021.

"The supervisory board agreed with Christian Seifert to terminate the CEO contract which runs to 30/06/2022 early to the end of this year. In order to secure a smooth transition, Christian Seifert will be available to provide advice as required to the new management," said the German League.

"I intend to leave the company when my contract expires in June 2022," announced Christian Seifert on 26/10/2020, explaining that he wanted "to begin writing a new chapter" in his professional career. He had extended on 10/10/2016 for five years at the head of the League, until 30/06/2022.
