Premier League: Barclays picks Havas Sports & Entertainment as sponsorship agency

Havas Sports & Entertainment was named the sponsorship agency of the British bank Barclays on 15/07/2014. The agency beat out, among others, Fuse and Octagon in the tender.

Havas SE will advise the bank on its sponsorship strategy, evaluate existing partnerships, and implement communication campaigns, events, content, digital strategy and public relations. Havas SE intends to use its global network of 35 offices in 20 countries to support the bank in managing its partnerships in the United Kingdom, the United States and Africa.

Havas SE will, in particular, evaluate the bank's title sponsorship of the Premier League. The bank may end its contract with the Premier League in 2016, according to the Wall Street Journal on 26/01/2014. The English 1st division championship has been called Barclays Premier League since 2001. The bank has been paying €48.3m per season to the league since the extension of the partnership in 2012, when the bank was looking to increase its visibility in the UK and abroad.
