Italy: Serie A TIM is the last Top 5 league to kick-off its 2021-22 season on Saturday 21/08/2021

FC Inter Milan, the 2020-21 Italian champions, will face Genoa CFC in one of the two opening games of the 2021-22 Serie A TIM season at the San Siro Stadium (Milan, ITA) on Saturday 21/08/2021 (kick-off at 18:30 CET). Hellas Verona FC - US Sassuolo Calcio will also take place at the Marcantonio-Bentegodi Stadium (Verona, ITA) at the same time.

Both games will be broadcast by OTT platform DAZN, which holds the domestic rights to all the matches for the 2021-24 cycle (€840m per season). Pay-TV group Sky Italia, for its part, holds the non-exclusive rights to three games per matchday and will thus co-broadcast Empoli FC - SS Lazio on 21/08 (kick-off 20:45), Bologna FC 1909 - US Salernitana 1919 (kick-off at 20:45) on 22/08 and UC Sampdoria - AC Milan (kick-off 20:45) on 23/08/2021 for Matchday 1.

The three promoted clubs for the 2021-22 season are Empoli FC, the 2020-21 Serie BKT champions, as well as Venezia FC and US Salernitana 1919 who will be participating in the top flight for the first time in 19 and 23 years respectively.
