China: China Mobile (Migu) acquires broadcast rights to Premier League and the 2021-22 Serie A TIM

China Mobile, a Chinese telecommunications operator, has acquired, under license from IQiyi Sports, the non-exclusive streaming TV rights, in China, to the Premier League for the 2021-2025 cycle (four seasons), according to the British and Chinese media on 16/08/2021. The matches will be broadcast via “Migu Video”, China Mobile's OTT platform.

IQiyi Sports, a joint venture between streaming platform IQiyi (a subsidiary of Chinese search engine Baidu) and agency Super Sports Media (a subsidiary of Chinese culture, sports and entertainment investment company Wuhan DDMC Culture Co) launched on 06/08/2018, had acquired the exclusive streaming rights in China to the Premier League, for the 2021-2025 cycle, on 22/07/2021.

China Mobile, which already holds the non-exclusive TV rights to LaLiga Santander in 2021-22 (see below), has also reportedly acquired the streaming rights, in China, to Serie A TIM for the 2021-22 season, according to specialised media on 17/08/2021. Matchday 1 of the 2021-22 Serie A TIM is scheduled from 21 to 23/08/2021.
