2021-22 LaLiga Santander: attendance for Matchday 1 (9,046 spectators on average per game)

Matchday 1 of the 2021-22 LaLiga Santander season drew an average of 9,046 spectators per game, from Friday 13 to Monday 16/08/2021. The average fill rate was only 24.3%.

These unusually low figures for the Spanish Championship are explained by the partial capacities imposed by public authorities in all Spanish stadiums due to the Covid-19 health crisis. Although a maximum capacity of 40% was established at national level at the beginning of August 2021, some local authorities have decided to lower this limit even further: 33% in Navarre (for CA Osasuna - RCD Espanyol), 30% in Catalonia (FC Barcelona - Real Sociedad) and 20% in the Basque Country (Deportivo Alavés - Real Madrid CF).

FC Barcelona - Real Sociedad (4-2), on Sunday 15/08/2021 (kick off at 20:00 CET), was the game that posted the best attendance of this first matchday with 20,348 spectators at Camp Nou (99,354 capacity).
