The global "WeThe15" awareness campaign, initiated by the International Paralympic Committee and the International Disability Alliance, brings together countries around the world to advocate for the rights of the 1.2 billion people with disabilities, i.e. 15% of the world's population, said the IPC on 19/08/2021.

"Just a few days before the opening of the Tokyo Paralympic Games (on Tuesday 24/08/2021), the International Paralympic Committee is launching the worldwide 'WeThe15' campaign with the participation of over 115 iconic landmarks around the world. These will be lit up in purple, the international colour of disability. Alongside the Sky Tower in Auckland (New Zealand), the Colosseum in Rome (Italy), the London Eye (United Kingdom) and the Skytree and Rainbow Bridge in Tokyo (Japan), symbolic Parisian monuments are also turning purple, such as the Élysée Palace, the Hôtel de Ville and the headquarters of the organising committee of the future Paris 2024 Paralympic Games," said the CPSF, the French Paralympic and Sports Committee.
