OGC Nice-Olympique Marseille: LFP disciplinary committee summons both clubs on Wednesday 25/08/2021

"Following the serious incidents of the match OGC Nice - Olympique de Marseille (Matchday 3 of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats), the LFP disciplinary committee summons the two clubs for a meeting of Wednesday 25/08/2021," announced the Ligue de Football Professionnel on 23/08/2021.

The match was interrupted in the 74^th minute by referee Benoît Bastien after Nice fans invaded the pitch at the Allianz Riviera: Marseille's Dimitri Payet, who was hit in the back by a projectile, had returned one of the many bottles of water that were aimed at him each time he went to take a corner near the stand. OGC Nice were leading 1-0 at the time (goal scored by Danish player Kasper Dolberg in the 49^th minute).

The match was definitively stopped after an hour and a half's interruption, as the Marseille players refused to return to the pitch. Benoit Bastien put the ball down near the corner post where play should have resumed, blew his whistle and noted the absence of the Marseille players.
