2021-22 LaLiga Santander: attendance for Matchday 2 (10,717 spectators on average per game)

Matchday 2 of the 2021-22 LaLiga Santander season drew an average of 10,717 spectators per game, from Friday 20 to Monday 23/08/2021. The average fill rate was just 29.3%.

These unusually low figures for the Spanish Championship are explained by the partial capacities imposed by public authorities in all Spanish stadiums due to the Covid-19 health crisis. Although a maximum capacity of 40% was established at national level at the beginning of August 2021, some local authorities have decided to lower this limit even further: 33% in Navarre (Basque Country district, where CA Osasuna - RC Celta was held), 30% in Catalonia (RCD Espanyol - Villarreal CF) and 20% in the Basque Country (Athletic Club Bilbao - FC Barcelona, Real Sociedad - Rayo Vallecano and Deportivo Alavés - RCD Mallorca).

Atlético de Madrid - Elche CF (1-0), on Sunday 22/08/2021 (kick-off at 19:30 CET), was the match that posted the best attendance on Matchday 2 with 24,926 spectators at the Wanda Metropolitano (Madrid, ESP), with a capacity at 67,703.
