esports/Covid-19: Worlds 2021 moved from China to Europe (host cities to be determined)

Initially scheduled to take place in five cities in China (Qingdao, Wuhan, Chendu, Shanghai and Shenzhen), the 2021 edition of the "Worlds" will now be held in Europe, as announced by John Needham, global head of LoL Esports, the Riot Games entity that manages the marketing of its esports circuit, on 24/08/2021.

Host cities and dates for the competition have not yet been announced. The 2021 League of Legends World Championship finals were originally scheduled to take place in Shenzhen on 06/11/2021.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic (Delta variant) and the restrictions it imposes on international travel, Riot Games prefers to hold the 11^th edition of the Worlds in Europe for the fourth time in the competition's history after 2011 (Jönköping, SWE), 2015 (Paris, London, Brussels and Berlin) and 2019 (Paris, Berlin and Madrid).
