Brazil 2014: Over 1bn fans connect to FIFA's social network Global Stadium

More than 1bn fans connected to Global Stadium, the online and mobile social network dedicated to the 2014 World Cup (Brazil, from 12/06 to 13/07/2014), said FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) on 14/07/2014.

Launched by FIFA on 29/05/2014, Global Stadium invited fans to follow the 64 games of the World Cup live and to chat with other fans as well as with players, managers and celebrities. There were more than 40bn views of content on FIFA's official numerical platforms (official website, social network and applications).

More than 107m people visited FIFA's official website. FIFA's official app has become the most downloaded sports app (28m downloads). 451m users accessed FIFA's Facebook content (FIFA has 39.6m Facebook fans).

As of 14/07/2014, FIFA had reached 16m followers on the social network Twitter and 800,000 subscribers on the social photo- and video-sharing site Instagram. FIFA's Instagram account had only 42,000 subscribers on 12/06/2014.
