Sponsorship: Socios.com's partner clubs received £150m (€174.8m) in 2020-21 (press)

Socios.com, a cryptocurrency blockchain platform owned by Maltese companies ChiliZ and Mediarex Sports & Entertainment, has paid out £150m (€174.8m as of 21/08/2021) to all of its partner sports clubs (nearly 40) over the 2020-21 season, according to the British daily newspaper The Telegraph, which interviewed Alexandre Dreyfus, CEOof Socios.com, on 21/08/2021.

"Four clubs that already made almost £20m (€23.3m) each in the past 12 months. That's a significant revenue during Covid-19," explained Alexandre Dreyfus. Socios.com monetises fan engagement by selling club tokens so that fans can take part in decisions affecting the life of the club. The group has partnerships with many major European clubs (Juventus FC, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City FC, FC Barcelona, Club Atlético de Madrid, etc.).

Launched in 2019, the platform has "close to a million sign ups" according to The Telegraph. The UK market accounts for only 1.5% of subscribers, while Socios.com is "soaring in popularity in South-East Asia, Brazil and Turkey."
