Canal+: "We are in dispute with the LFP for Ligue 1 TV rights and we will see it through" (M. Saada)

"We are in dispute (with the LFP over the 2021-2024 Ligue 1 Uber Eats broadcasting rights) and we will see it through. For the moment, we are broadcasting Ligue 1 (two games per matchday) and we are delighted to do so," said Maxime Saada, president of the board of directors at Canal+ group, during the first conference of the French free and pay-TV group after the summer break, on 31/08/2021.

Canal+ will maintain the programming of the Ligue 1 match on Saturday at 21:00 CET on Canal+ Sport Week-End (Canal+ Décalé, delayed broadcast channel), which is free for subscribers to the Canal+ channel only, and the Sunday match at 17:00 on Canal+ Sport. Canal+ acquired the broadcasting rights to these matches (Lot 3) under sub-license from beIN Sports for €332m per season on 09/12/2019.

Canal+ is no longer in commercial discussions with the Ligue de Football Professionnel since its awarding of 80% of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 matches to Amazon, for the 2021-2024 cycle, for €250m per season, on 11/06/2021, nor is it in discussions with the US e-commerce group for a distribution deal for its Ligue 1…
