LaLiga Impulso: Real Oviedo (LaLiga SmartBank) agrees to the deal between LaLiga and the CVC fund

"Real Oviedo (LaLiga SmartBank) is writing to inform season-ticket holders and shareholders that it will be joining the alliance proposed by the CVC fund following an in-depth internal study, now in the knowledge of the details and the consequences of the project for the present and future of our club," announced Real Oviedo on 29/08/2021.

The LaLiga - CVC Capital Partners agreement, entitled "LaLiga Impulso" (Boost LaLiga in English), provides for the injection of €2.7bn by the investment fund, in exchange for a 10% return on LaLiga's revenues, as well as a minority stake of approximately 10% of the capital of a new company created to manage LaLiga's commercial activities, including centralised TV rights. The general assembly of LaLiga approved the project with the support of 38 of its 42 member clubs (20 in LaLiga Santander and 22 in LaLiga SmartBank) on 12/08/2021. In addition to Real Oviedo, three LaLiga Santander clubs, namely Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona and Athletic Club Bilbao, had voted against.
